Cevital Oilseeds – A Crushing Plant Serving Algeria’s Food Self-Sufficiency

Cevital marks a new milestone in its agri-food strategy with the inauguration in May 2023 of a state-of-the-art oilseed crushing complex. Located near the Port of Béjaïa, this strategic project enables the local processing of soybeans, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds, thereby reducing Algeria’s dependence on imports.
Equipped with modern facilities and optimized logistics, Cevital strengthens its contribution to national food security while creating new industrial and economic opportunities.

A Unique Industrial Capacity

Outfitted with cutting-edge technology, the plant has a processing capacity of 11,000 tons per day, capable of transforming three types of oilseeds:

  • Soybeans
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Rapeseed

High Value-Added Products

This integration enables the production of:

  • Crude oils for refining and human consumption
  • Soybean, rapeseed, and sunflower meal, essential for livestock and poultry feed
  • Soybean hulls, used in ruminant feed

A Project Supporting Algerian Agriculture

Cevital is committed to purchasing the entirety of the national oilseed production from local farmers under a guaranteed price system.
This model enhances the value of local agriculture while further reducing dependence on imports.

A Major Economic Impact

Through this structural project, Algeria will benefit from:

  • The creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs
  • A significant reduction in imports of oils and animal feed
  • The strengthening of the national agri-industrial sector, with strong export potential
