Cevital: Agri-Food
From field to table, Cevital carefully combines quality, innovation, and sustainability to meet essential national and international food needs.
Local Mastery, Global Impact
Cevital’s agri-food activity covers the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of raw materials, as well as the production, distribution, and marketing of sugar, oils, sauces, beverages, vegetable fats, and oilcakes for industrial use.
With the largest sugar refinery in the world, the Group meets 70% of national demand and ensures food security and stability. In the vegetable oil sector, it satisfies 65% of national needs, reinforcing its key role in achieving food self-sufficiency.
The 2023 inauguration of the multi-seed crushing complex in Béjaïa, the first in Africa and fourth worldwide, enabled the production of high-quality oils and animal feed, processing soy, rapeseed, and sunflower to launch the first 100% Algerian oil.
In line with the national strategy for food independence, Cevital launched pilot sugar beet plantations in several southern regions, with crops showing sugar content above European standards.
The sugar beet refinery project, with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons and covering more than 35% of national sugar needs, strengthens food sovereignty and positions sugar beet as a strategic crop.
These industrial and agricultural capabilities allow Cevital to reduce imports, boost exports, foster economic growth, create skilled jobs, and attract strategic investments, consolidating its position as the leading agri-industrial company in Algeria.
